AMSOIL AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUIDS

In 2005 the American Petroleum Institute (API) spec changed from SL in 2005 to SM, SN Dexos and SP is now in effect as of May 1st, 2020, and is continuing to change. These new oil specifications limit the amount of zinc and phosphorous (ZDDP) by approximately 30% less for emissions, this will be detrimental to flat tappet camshafts & lifters! Now a new PCMO (passenger car motor oil) spec (SP) is here in (2020) and AMSOIL currently has it in all 3 tiers of their oils. It is designed for the newer Gas Directed Injection (GDI) engines that experience Low Speed Pre-Ignition (LSPI), it will meet Dexos 1 gen 2 spec’d oil. AMSOIL already meets the SP spec now that API released it. These new oils by AMSOIL are the pinnacle in performance with 75% more protection and 100 % protection against LSPI (low speed pre-ignition). NEW 2017 DIESEL ENGINE OIL SPECIFICATIONS
New diesel engine oil spec’s were introduced in late 2017 and they are changing continually. The CK-4 & FA-4 are for all newer diesel vehicles in the United States. The CK-4 spec is backwards compatible & the FA-4 is designed only for some 2017 and newer diesel engines (it is a lower viscosity) and AMSOIL will manufacture it when engine manufactures warrant it. The CJ was the original spec, and it is now CK-4 is the current Specification is backward compatible for 2021 and older oil specifications. The CK-4 has outstanding performance with 75% more protection. AMSOIL CK-4 spec’d oils are available now in 15-40; 5-30; 10-30; 5-40 & 0-40 with 6X more wear protection than the industry standard. AMSOIL’S CK-4 spec’d oils by far out perform the earlier CJ-4 oils with only .09% of ash and better protection than the former CI+4 spec’d oils. AMSOIL will at a later date have the FA spec’d oils after manufactures agree with this spec and it is in demand. Vehicles with Diesel Particulate Filters
In the year 2007 highway diesel vehicles in the United States where mandated by federal law to use DPF’s (diesel particulate filters) in the United States. Also, all off-road, heavy equipment & farm machinery in 2012 over a specified horsepower, (25 HP & above) was also mandated by Federal Law. During normal operation the DPF’s do a superb job in cleaning the exhaust contaminants (NOX) from diesel engines but they definitely will create some problems. One major problem is that the DPF’s may cause fuel dilution in the engine oil (especially in the Ford 6.7L). Some of the problems are excessive fuel consumption, excessive back pressure in the exhaust system which limits your performance which can cause your engine to shut down or go into limp mode when the DPF get plugged.
